ZyXEL NSA-220 NAS server Video Transcript
>> Hello. This is Dong Nso at First Look.com and I have with me today the NSA-220 NAS server from Zyxel. This is a little unusual NAS server amount I've ever seen. First on the front is a big LCD that turns out to be just a decoration. It's actually not an LCD but just a piece of shiny plastic. Secondly, the drive bays are accessed from behind the device. This means it would have to be unplugged from the power and the network before you can install or replace the hard drives. Obviously, this prevents the NAS Server from being able to offer a heart stoppable feature. Other than that the NSA-220 is a two-bay NAS server that can support two SHA hard drives up to 1 terabyte each. It then can configure these hard drives into a 2 terabyte red zero configuration or 1 terabyte red, 1 configuration or J-bot. The NSA-220 has 2 USB Ports that can be used to support excellent storage or a printer. It can also copy the entire content of a USB thumb drive onto the internal storage just be pressing on the copy button on the front. The best things about the NSA 220 are those I can show you here. First, it comes with a very robust easy to use web management, probably one of the best I've ever seen. The NSA -220 also has a new feature called broadcasting where it keeps tabs of RSS feeds such as podcast or news. You then share the materials with other computers in network viewer, the media or iTunes servers. For more information on the performance of the NSA check back at cnet.com soon for our full review of the product. If you can't wait, the NSA-220 is available now for around 220 dollars without the hard drives which is a good price. Once again this is Dong Nso and this has been the First Look at the NSA-220 NAS server from Xyxel.

Zyxel NSA-220 NAS Review
The good: Excellent Web-based management; supports USB external storage and printers; RAID configurations; keeps tab of RSS feeds.
The bad: Hard to set up and has limited over-the-Internet access; slow RAID 1 performance; USB ports are on the front.
The bottom line: If you don't need remote access and can look past sluggish RAID 1 performance, the Zyxel NSA-220 NAS drive offers a useful set of basic features, solid performance, and best-in-class Web-based management.
