>> Hey, what's up, guys? I'm Justin Yu, associate editor with CNET.com with a first look at the ZT Affinity 7334 MA desktop computer. Now it's an excellent mid-range system and easily recommended at $800 but before we get into the components, let's spend a second on the design, or lack thereof. Now like many mid ranges made by ZT, this one isn't gonna be winning any beauty pageants anytime soon. Now that's not to say that it's flat-out ugly, but the plain black tower just looks really generic. Now anyway, the front does give you two USB ports, audio jacks, as well as a media card reader and a blu-ray drive up top here. Now that means you do have the option of putting it in your living room if you want to, and it's got HDMI, DVI and VGA ports to go along with that. So ZT does offer a great set of components in the system including a 3 GHz AMD phenom II quad core processor, 8 gigs of ram, an ATI Radeon integrated graphics chip and 64 bit windows. Now competitive systems do include a dedicated 3-D video card, but they have to sacrifice processing speeds to keep it in the same price. Now speaking of performance, we have to hand it to ZT for turning out top-notch scores in all four of our benchmark tests, mostly due to its 3 GHz clock speed. And the integrated video actually cuts down on yearly energy costs. Now you can find out all the details and test results in our full review, but that's gonna do it for me. The do-it-all Archos 604 with its improved design and low base price is slightly marred by mediocre audio performance. It's an amazing PVP, but not a great audio player.
Velocity Micro's Edge Z15 represents one of the best deals we've seen this year in midrange gaming PCs. It has all the power necessary to play current games (even 'Crysis') at smooth frame rates, and its clean, spacious interior gives you plenty of upgrade room. We recommend this system to any PC gamer looking for a sub-$2,000 desktop.
Gateway's SX2800-01 offers a strong combination of performance and features all wrapped up in a design that fully embraces the merits of a slim tower PC. We recommend this system to anyone looking for a fast, affordable desktop for the home office, the living room, or anywhere in between.
The Dell Studio XPS 435 successfully overcomes our bias against desktops that claim to be experts at everything through charming case design and a strong configuration at a relatively fair price. It misses greatness because of a handful of minor missteps, but if you need a do-it-all mainstream tower system, this Dell more or less covers all the bases.
The Apple Mac Mini for the most part retains the same external design as its predecessor, but Apple has made significant changes under the hood that speed up the system--though still not competitive to budget Windows desktop PCs.
The Verizon Wireless XV6800 comes with most everything a power business user will need from a smartphone, but its less-than-stellar call quality gives the Samsung SCH-i760 the slight edge.

The good: Quad-core performance trounces competitive systems; Blu-ray drive included; wide range of display outputs; performance-enhancing AMD CPU; a lot of room for internal expansion.
The bad: Boring design remains unchanged from previous model.
The bottom line: The $799 ZT Affinity 7334Ma's stellar performance benchmarks, Blu-ray drive, and plenty of room for expansion give it a step up from the competition. ZT still needs help in the external design department, but this system certainly earns our recommendation as a workhorse do-it-all system.
