Ying Yang Twins feat. Wyclef Jean:
Ying Yang Twins producer Michael "Mr. Collipark" Crooms has teamed with rapper/producer Wyclef Jean and his cousin Jerry "Wonda" Duplessis to executive produce the newly renamed fifth Ying Yang Twins album, CHEMICALLY IMBALANCED. Ying Yang Twins (D-Roc and Kaine) have changed the album title to CHEMICALLY IMBALANCED. "We renamed it [that] because we're totally opposite, we are never on the same page but we wind up in the same place. It has everything to do with chemistry and how we interact with each other - individually we are imbalanced but together we equal each other out," says Kaine. Look out for the video for the first single, "Dangerous."

Pitbull feat. Lil Jon and Ying Yang Twins: "Bojangles"
Keeping his brand image alive and kicking, Pitbull's fierce bite is still killing competitors and luring in new loyal fans. His staple, Miami, Florida; let it be known. But since Pitbull's success continues to grow so does his national and international fame. The recipe for having longevity in the music business is that it's deeper then music, Pitbull says, you gotta be straight with relationships, able to keep them and you can't burn bridges. On top of that you gotta know how to put out hit records. Pitbull knew he was onto something great with the success of his debut release on TVT Records, M.I.A.M.I. (Money Is A Major Issue). Singles like 'Toma' and 'Culo' can still be heard in clubs all over the nation and beyond, and the crowd reacts like they have never heard it before. The energy rises, basses bump, asses shake, bodies grind and all the while 24-year-old Pitbull is just doing what he does best. Part of that comes from his upbringing. His parents, both first generation Cuban immigrants had him memorize the poems of legendary Cuban poet, Jose Mart when he was just a boy. This ritual instilled in him an early appreciation for the power of language, as well as the importance of his Cuban roots and looking beyond his own experience for inspiration. Pitbull explains, That's one thing people don?t realize about Miami -- we have all kinds of people down here. So early on I learned to appreciate different types of music." M.I.A.M.I. has surpassed expectations in the market. The album has been certified gold and Pitbull has provided a new face in hip-hop for the Latinos by becoming the most highly recognized Latino emcee since Fat Joe. Media attention keeps growing and Pitbull has already landed features in magazines like Latina, Rolling Stone, Maxim en Espanol, XXL and The Source to name a few. Not only does the media want to write about Pitbull but he himself writes a column for the NBA Espanol website. Pitbull understands that to stay on top you have to be on the grind constantly, "not everybody can stay on top -- there are more failed hustlers than there are successful ones." While a lot of Sunshine State rappers focus their hip-hop attentions strictly below the Mason-Dixon line, the teenage Pitbull's wide interests led him to classics like Nas "Illmatic" and G-Funk blueprints like "The Chronic" and "Doggystyle." Soon he was developing the freestyle skills that would later earn him fame, flooding the Miami streets with mixtapes (like his latest, "Unleashed Volume 5"). After missing connections with Irv Gotti - a chance meeting brought them into the same studio, but the planned recording session never happened - Pitbull turned to home base for his entry in the game. In the late 90s, he was tapped by bass music legend Luke to flow over his hit single "Lollipop". " I am grateful for him, not just because "Lollipop" did mad business all through the south, Pitbull says. But because he helped me learn the ropes of the business." music is a universal language.

Substance Abuse: "Night On The Town"
As opposed to groups who either force change or resist it, the hip-hop group Substance Abuse embraces a natural progression. The trio creates earnest hip-hop music, combining equal measures of intelligence, clarity, innovation, and polish to evoke the unpretentious consciousness of the Golden Age era, while avoiding corny retro posturing. After gaining much acclaim for their collaboration with MF Doom on the infectious "Profitless Thoughts," Substance Abuse is ready to drop their long awaited full length, "Overproof," a term signifying "more than ample evidence" of S.A.'s eminent dopeness. Group members Eso Tre and Subz grew up together in Los Angeles, where they became hip-hop fans at an early age. In high school, the duo could often be found in the audience at the legendary Unity events that have since come to define the progressive LA hip-hop scene of the early 90?s. Inspired by those shows emphasis on positive expression through creative art, the friends began working on their own music. Substance Abuse's first release was a 1998 EP with Santa Barbara's mic.edu called Brand New Crime on Rocketship Records. The project received extensive college radio airplay and critical praise, and led to the filming of a video for the track ?Spontaneous Egos?, directed by independent filmmaker Jesse Felsot. The clip became a favorite of underground West Coast video shows and is currently available for viewing online at Sputnik7 (www.sputnik7.com). This was followed by the filming of the video for ?Night on the Town? featuring Kool Keith, which can be viewed at www.threshrecs.com Throughout the next year, Eso Tre and Subz bolstered their reputations as crowd movers with a series of performances sharing the stage with mic legends such as Souls of Mischief and Aceyalone. In turn, the group's lyrical prowess earned them a slot on Sway and Tech's Wake-Up Show, where they premiered the lead track from their debut single, "What the Fuck You Rhymin' For?" Finally, S.A. was named in URB magazine's Next 100 last year as a new group to watch. The name doesn?t have anything to do with getting faded,? explains MC Eso, who adds that their name is commonly misunderstood. ?Abuse is a word which correlates with excess, and we are excessively concerned with interjecting substance in the music.? Overproof includes contributions from Saafir, Kool Keith, Motion Man, Kutmasta Kurt, P.E.A.C.E., Rasco, Thes-One, and MF Doom.
