>> Hey, I'm Donald Bell, Senior editor for digital audio and MP3 and today we're taking a First Look at the Yamaha NX-BO2. This is a totally portable Bluetooth battery-powered portable speaker. It takes four AA batteries and you can get five hours of audio playback of those batteries. And you can also use an AC adaptor if you want using a little plug in the back here. And if you don't wanna use Bluetooth audio with this, you can still plug in an MP3 player or a CD player using a little 3.5 mm jack on the back as well. The coolest thing about the NX-BO2 is really its size and its style. This is a very cool modern looking little speaker system that takes up just a little fraction of space, so if you have a bookshelf you want to put this on, if you have a really cramped kitchen counter you wanna put this on, it makes a very efficient use of space. We've seen other Bluetooth battery-powered speakers, but none that sound this good for the size and also this well-designed. The features on the NX-BO2 really aren't anything to write home about. There's a power button up at the top, volume controls and a button here to activate the Bluetooth functionality. The sides of the NX-BO2 are probably the coolest looking part of this thing. It looks like an office building. It's got all these little tiny grates from the speaker grill and it's got this mirrored surface that, kind of alternates between like a matte-finish and a glossy-finish, looks rally neat. The bottom of the NX-BO2 is where you're gonna put in your batteries if you wanna run this thing off with four AA batteries. It doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself and it doesn't need a lot of space. It retails around a $199, although, we're seeing it around $140 street price. It's gonna be great value for someone who doesn't have a lot of space in their home and who's really looking for a good sounding, very portable solution for getting audio around the house. So, I'm Donald Bell and that was a first look at the Yamaha NX-BO2. ^M00:01:55 [ Music ]
The Altec Lansing Orbit MP3 iM237 is a battery-powered portable iPod speaker that may not have the biggest sound, but has better quality than you might expect from such a small speaker.
TDK has a speaker that combines wireless charging and bluetooth audio for your portable devices
The Kyocera wireless portable speaker with headset is a smart combination of a speaker with a Bluetooth headset. It would be of great use in the car.
The Razer Ferox gaming speakers are supposed to amplify the sounds of your portable gaming, but despite their progressive design, we're dissatisfied with the audio quality even at midrange volumes. We recommend spending a little more on Creative's D100 cordless Bluetooth speaker to get your money's worth.
The Bluetake BT400GL is a compact and comfortable wireless Bluetooth headset. We definitely like the portable power dock for additional battery life; however, the BT400GL simply doesn't deliver when it comes to audio quality.
The Sound Platform combines Bluetooth audio, FM radio, and iPod and iPhone compatibility into a boxy, yet beautiful, speaker dock.
The Parrot Boombox wireless Bluetooth speaker system ably combines elegant design, minimalist aesthetics, and better-than-average sound quality at an affordable price.
AT&T's $99 portable Bluetooth speaker takes on Jawbone's Jambox.
New portable Bluetooth speaker is shaped like a breakfast treat -- or a life preserver.
While the SoundLink Bluetooth Mobile Speaker II may no longer be in a class by itself, it's still near the top of the portable Bluetooth speaker category.
