Yahoo Go 3.0 Beta Video Transcript
>>Speaker: Hi I'm Jessica Dolcurt with cnnet..com this is a first look at the very attractive Yahoo Go 3 point 0 beta. Yahoo Go is essentially Yahoo's mobile portal for a lot of its services like IM, email, Flickr and headline news. This app has two major improvements over the previous version, the first is a polish teaser interface and the second is integration of the Yahoo widgets engine which opens up the app to a lot more outside content. By default, yahoo has added its own services to the carousel. You can manage them by pressing the star key and you can go into a widget and actually remove it from the carousel or delete it entirely. The articles and the images render really well and the speed is entirely dependent upon your connection. If you go into the menu, you'll notice that you can send an article and Yahoo has also added some really useful hot keys to get back to the main carousel, that's pressing pound or you can get to the search bar by pressing zero. Incidentally, the one word search bar is the fastest way to get to a URL in Yahoo Go. The widget's gallery is were you be able to add widgets designed specifically for Yahoo Go. Right now they're only three, but that'll fill in as developers create more widgets. Two other new additions to Yahoo Go 3 are snippets and Quick links. From the main carousel click onto the purple y and you'll see a summary of your email and a section called my snippets, which are basically mini feeds. You can add weather or sports scores for example. Quick links, in my opinion are much more interesting than the snippets, but unfortunately they're buried all the way below them , so you have to keep scrolling and scrolling to get there. You can add quickly links at Yahoo services, but it's a lot more useful to add a URL for a site that doesn't have a widget yet. As you can see there's a little more work that needs to be done on this app before it's ready for primetime. I'm Jessica Dolcourt and this has been Yahoo Go 3 point 0 beta.
