Windows Vista System Restore Video Transcript

lcristia posted a common question on the CNET forums at forums.cnet.com. "I recently purchased a new computer with Windows Vista as the OS. Previously I had Windows XP. On Win XP, if I had a problem after installing a program I could go to Help and Support from the start menu to restore my computer to a previous date and reverse the problem. Win XP gave you a calender to select a previous date from. How do I accomplish this on Vista?" CNET moderator R. Proffitt had the answer. The fastest way is to go into the Windows menu. And type 'restore' into the search box. This will bring up the system restore. Click on that and you're into the system restore application. You can either accept the recommended restore point, Or select to choose a different one. If you ask to choose, you'll be presented with a list of your possible restore points with descriptions of the main changes that prompted that point to be created. Click on one, you'll be asked to confirm and then restart your machine to roll back the system. I've used this feature, more than once, sometimes on live video, and it's saved my bacon every time. That's it for this quick tip. I'm Tom Merritt, CNET.com.
