>> Hi, I'm Matthew Mascoviack, assistant editor at CNET.com. And this is the Westinghouse LVM47W1. This is a 47 inch LCD TV with a 1080P negative resolution. Which means that it can display 1080I and 1080P sources without scaling them to fit the picture. This is a relatively inexpensive LCD for the size. And that reflected in the styling, which you can see is kind of bland. It has a dark gray frame around the picture and the silver on the outside. And you can see at the bottom, actually the speakers are pointing downward instead of firing out. Now while the styling is bad, the remote is kind of actually worse. As you can see, it's pretty looking and the volume buttons aren't really set off aside which makes it very difficult to navigate by feel. But bad styling aside, the features on this TV are actually pretty good. Around back, you'll see that there are three digital inputs, one HDMI and two DVI. And all three of these inputs are 1080P capable. There's also three analog HD inputs, one VGA PC style input and two component video inputs. The PC input is actually capable of accepting a 1080P source, so that's really great for Xbox 360 owners with the HD DVD drive which only outputs 1080P over VGA. Now, on to performance. This performed a little bit better than we expected. It's about above average black levels for an LCD. And the color decoding was decent. But where it really shined in performance was as a computer monitor. All the text and images that we looked at were especially crisp and we would highly recommend it for that purpose. As a TV, its relatively inexpensive set and it's not the best performer. But it does have a lot of HD inputs and it's a pretty big screen for the price. I'm Matthew Maschoviak and this is the Westinghouse LV1046W1. ^M00:01:59 [ Music ]
