WD My Passport Studio Video Transcript

Hi, guys. I'm Dong Ngo and I have with me here the-- a new portable drive, the WD My Passport Studio. This is the latest in the My Passport Studio family and it's designed for Mac users. For this reason, it looks great with all metal body that is also scratch-resistant. On the inside, the drive comes with a single internal drive that offers up to 1 terabyte of storage space. On top here, there are two FireWire 800 ports and one USB 2.0 port. Unfortunately, there's no USB 3.0 support but that's because Mac generally don't offer that option either. The drive is pre-formatted in Mac [unk] system and would work with any Mac out of the box. It can also be reformatted to work with Windows however. The new Mac Passport Studio comes with WD Drive Utilities and WD Security applications. The former is a set of tool for user to trick the drive such as reformatting it and the latter enabled encryption making the drive safe from unauthorized access. In our testing, the My Passport Studio offer very good performance with both USB 2.0 and FireWire 800 connections. The drive comes with one FireWire 800 cable and one USB 2.0 cable. Either of these cables can be used as both power and data connector sparing user from having to use another separate power adapter. The My Passport Studio is available now in three capacities (500 gig, 750 gig, and 1 terabyte) that cost $130, $160, and $180 respectively. To find out more about its performance, check out the full review at cnet.com. Once again, my name is Dong Ngo and this has been the first look at the WD My Passport Studio.
