FL: Vuze *** The sheer number of bit torrent clients out there can be overwhelming. Don't they all do the same thing? *** Hi, I'm Seth Rosenblatt from CNET Download.com, and today we're taking a first look at VUZE, a bit torrent client that offers a clean design and great features. Formerly known as AZUREUS--rings a bell, doesn't it--Vuze isn't my personal favorite but it's still one of the better ones. *** As Azureus, the program was instantly recognizable to the users of any torrent client, since it DIDN'T stray far from the original BitTorrent design. Vuze is a WHOLE different beast--Azureus' blue frog on STEROIDS. *** Vuze combines social networking "FRIENDING" and user-ratings with torrent-managing to create a NETWORK of different channels. Instead of streaming content, though, clicking on a video downloads the torrent and opens it in the Vuze player. *** Navigation stars your main dashboard for a general overview of your torrents and Vuze's LATEST media, with the ability to drill down with the "On Vuze" tab for more vids, the LIBRARY tab for your downloaded content, and the PUBLISH tab to send your video torrents out into the WILD. *** The search bar connects to MAJOR torrent search engines, and the advanced tab opens up the traditional-looking torrent manager. *** Which handles pretty much like the old Azureus. *** It's ADMIRABLE that Vuze is looking toward the future, and not sitting on its torrent laurels. But users not looking for a DRASTIC change nor wanting a big video push might not be happy with Azure--I mean, VUZE. *** With this First Look at Vuze. I'm Seth Rosenblatt for Download.com.
