>> Jessica Dolcourt: Vlingo is one of the best voice command services we've seen for mobile phones in a version 3.0 for BlackBerry and to introduce to some premium features. I'm Jessica Dolcourt taking a first look now at Vlingo 3.0 for BlackBerry. It takes a few minutes to set Vlingo up, but after you to through the step-by-step wizard, you'll be able to press the side convenience button on the phone and begin speaking your command. Vlingo's range of prompts is pretty impressive compared to what else is out there. You are able to search Google or Yahoo, dial a number, create a note, and launch applications using your voice. You can also text other Vlingo users and can update your Facebook and Twitter status messages. So version 3.0 of Vlingo introduces a voice that reads back your actions. It's a little robotic, but it helps confirm your request, which is especially important if you're driving. It also brings forward two premium features that cost about $18 for a one-time fee. One lets you text any phonebook contact, not just those using Vlingo, and the other lets you dictate and manage e-mails. E-mail dictation was actually available in the previous version for free but didn't include the audio readback that's included in the premium package now. You can still use the application for free minus these two extras, and you can still use Vlingo 2.0 as long as you want. It won't time out, we're told. Vlingo 3.0 also networks with the latest BlackBerry devices like the Bold and Storm and has added on headset support so you can speak commands through a wired headset or a pair of Bluetooth headset instead of having to lift the app to your mouth each time. You'll still need to press the convenience key to activate it's digital ears, of course. Vlingo doesn't always get words perfect the first time around, but it does pretty well and promises to learn your vocal patterns that happens over time. In addition, you'll always be able to manually correct your dictation before you send it live. Vlingo does offer small amounts of customization in the applications options menu like switching between British and American English and using your phone's GPS or triangulation to help focus searches. You can also turn off the audio playback and change your search engine. All in all, we recommend Vlingo for its time-saving voice commands. Get it from download.com or by pointing the mobile browser to vlingo.com. I'm Jessica Dolcourt. This has been Vlingo for BlackBerry version 3.0. [ Music ]
