>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier from CNET.com and I'm with the Vizio VP50HDTV. This is a 50 inch plasma and, as you can tell from the name, HD TV. It's one of the least expensive 50 inch plasmas on the market. It's right around 1500 dollars. So if you're really looking to spend as little as possible for as large of a flat screen as you can this is a pretty good candidate. In terms of picture quality the Vizio does a fairly good job for such an inexpensive plasma but our main complaint had to do with black levels. It really isn't capable of producing the nice deep color of black that a lot of the other flat panel and rear projection TV's can do these days. When you turn out the lights and look at a dark scene, for example, it really looks a little bit washed out compared to a lot of those other sets. Otherwise though we were generally impressed by the color accuracy and the fact that you could actually go into the menu, which is nice, and adjust the color temperature, which on a relatively low end TV like this is a nice feature to have. Other features on the set, of course, include a full picture in picture. Some of the even more expensive sets skipped out on that this year. Around back you'll find plenty of inputs including two HGMI, one PC input and two component video inputs so you can connect pretty much anything you'd like to the back of this television. Styling wise Vizio goes with the standard two tone look. Around the edge of the screen is a glossy black frame. Below that it goes to silver where the speaker is and the stand itself here is silver and, of course, the remote matches, it's also black lit, which is something that a whole lot of LCD or TV remotes aren't these days. Anyway, that's a quick look at the Vizio VP50HDTV. David Katzmaier. [ Music ]
