>> Hi I am David Katzmaier, senior editor from CNET.com and I'm with the Visio VP 42 HDTV. This is Visio's 42 inch plasma television, it's not an LCD but it's still a flat-panel, but that also means that it's less expensive than the companies LCDs by a couple hundred bucks, in fact it's one of the least expensive plasma is on the market right now. Of course that didn't stop Visio from putting a nice slick design on this television, around the edge there is the standard glossy black frame, below that there is the standard silver speakers, of course speakers in this case form one solid bar although there is a strange little piece of Plexiglas here on the middle, other than that nothing really special about the external design. In terms of features Visio put the kitchen sink into this television, there is a picture in picture, there is plenty of inputs including two HDMI1 component video and one PC input as well as an excellent selection of takes your adjustment controls. We really like the fact that you can go into the menu and play around with the color temperature control and really fine-tune the red green and blue elements of that. So overall the feature package on this TV is very impressive for such an inexpensive model. The picture quality of the Visio was also very impressive for the price, when we took the no ad we noted that its depth of black wasn't quite as deep as a lot of plasmas out there and it didn't deliver the kind of details and shadows that we have seen on the better models, but on the flip side its color was relatively accurate and overall the picture quality was definitely very good for a TV in this price range. That's a quick look at the Visio VP 42 HDTV and I'm David Katzmaier.

Vizio VP42 Review
The good: Inexpensive; relatively accurate color; solid standard-def performance; clean image with little false contouring; user-menu fine color temperature controls; connectivity includes two HDMI and one PC input; unobtrusive two-tone styling.
The bad: Below-average shadow detail; color tends toward red in darker areas; nondefeatable edge enhancement; emits faint buzzing sound.
The bottom line: The low-buck, high-value Vizio VP42HDTV deftly avoids most of the picture-quality pitfalls of inexpensive plasmas.
