Vizio M3D651SV hands-on Video Transcript

-Hi, I'm Ty Pendlebury, and this is the Vizio M3D651SV television. This is a mid range TV and features a lot of things you'll see on similar products such as 3D and Smart TV. While the company has released some really attractive TV this year under the new Razor frame line, this 65 inches actually pretty chunky and ugly and uses the old design. The TV does come with a reversible QWERTY remote, which includes shortcuts to Netflix and the still forthcoming in Go service. This 65 inches is supposed to feature smart dimming, but its black is as good as the cheaper 55-inch. While color reproduction of the 65 inch is pretty natural with well saturated colors. It black levels are way it goes wrong. Colors near black are crushed and the TV lacks the shadow details of what we'd expect from $1500 TV. Also, the screen is very reflective from one of the most mirror like I've seen this. This means that watching dark things in a well lit room like this is almost impossible due to distracting reflections. If you're looking to buy Vizio can do with the smaller 55-inch, I'd suggest getting the M3D515 instead as it has a better picture and is also much cheaper. On the other hand, the 65-inch M3D651SV doesn't offer very good value at all. This has been Ty Pendlebry for Cnet.com

Vizio M3D651SV Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Vizio M3D651SV is one of the cheapest 65-inch 3D TVs available. Its picture offers a fair amount of contrast punch, colors are vibrant, and 3D is very good. There's a full complement of features including a QWERTY remote, and the Smart TV interface is responsive and simple to use.

The bad: The big screen is almost unbearably reflective in a bright room. The TV suffers from a blue cast that can't be corrected, and shadow detail is murky.

The bottom line: The Vizio M3D651SV offers a lot of screen for comparatively little money, but unless you really want 3D, there are better big-screen values.
