Vizio's M3D550KD is one of our favorite LED TVs this year Video Transcript

-- -- David Katzmaier from CNET you're looking at that Vizio and the 3-D 550. KAD. It's a 55 inch LE DTV this review also applied to the 47 inch size. I this is one of our favorite LE DTV so far this year first -- it's. Pretty darn inexpensive -- press time this 55 into about 12100 bucks for example which is pretty darn good for a full featured LE DTV we also really like the picture quality will get to that and a little bit but let's first take a look at the design on the set. Such our least favorite part -- I do like the fact that the -- -- around the edge of the screen is pretty thin so it's a lot of picture for the size of the cabinet but also it's a pretty mediocre styling at. I really don't like this flash facility here along the bottom of the stand is. And I really wish the entire thing was are completely black as -- poses little wider spot right below the screen. Also not a huge fan of the design of the remote control it is very functional though you do get a full QWERTY keyboard and its Bluetooth units and -- at the screen but. It's really -- in the keys are all that responsive so again it. Like most people -- going to be replacing -- -- a universal model. The -- has plenty of features including a local dimming on LED backlight as well as a four pairs of included 3-D glasses which is of course a lot more than -- any active TV includes the set also has. Passive three there's also a Smart TV function on the set includes built in Wi-Fi and it's also one of the few TVs include all of the big for content providers for video that includes Netflix and Amazon instant Vudu and Hulu plus so all told planet content on this set. And although via this Yahoo! widgets like interface the scroll along the bottom his little bit awkward you can't really see all -- -- apps at once but at least there's plenty selection 150 total apps included on the set. Around back to connect to the example with four HDMI there's also provisions for component. And composite video PC input and a -- USB ports. While the Vizio will handle photos video and music files via USB you can't stream them via DO NA over your home network picture control in -- -- ample but not -- -- get two point grace goes well -- of different picture settings but it is. Missing color management system cannot control and ten points system. As I mentioned at the top this TV does have very good picture quality that starts with its deep black levels the local dimming allows the set to get nice -- -- especially in dark scenes it is pretty variable however -- -- -- scenes. -- black holes do come up a little bit so it's not quite as good as some -- -- we've -- to be consistent. But again I really prefer that actual overall Blackwell and I'll take some tradeoffs which include a little bit of -- and that variable back -- On the downside to off angle viewing is not great on the set but it does have pretty good screen uniformity -- does have a relatively reflective screen but not quite as -- some -- really glossy screens we've seen out there -- -- -- of a semi matte finish. Anyway that's a quick look at videos and three. -- I'm David Katzmaier.

Vizio M3D550KD Review

The good: The Vizio M3D0KD produces some of the deepest black levels and most accurate color of any LED TV this year, and does it for a bargain price. Its passive TV was brighter than many active sets and virtually crosstalk-free. The Smart TV suite has plenty of content and the remote has plenty of capabilities. Vizio includes four pairs of 3D glasses.

The bad: Variable black levels, blooming, and lackluster video processing hurt the Vizio's picture quality to some extent. Its passive 3D showed occasional artifacts and moving lines. The TV's design is ho-hum.

The bottom line: Very good picture quality and an extremely aggressive price make the Vizio M3D0KD one of the best LED TV values on the market.
