>> Hello, this is [inaudible] for CNET.com. And I have with me here the smallest wireless browser in the world. This is the My-Fi [assumed spelling] 2200 intelligent mobile hotspot from Verizon Wireless. This tiny device offers a great mobile broadband Internet access via Verizon cellular network. The My-Fi can work in two modes. When plugged into a computer via the USB cable, it works as a modem, and provides an Internet connection for that computer. The My-Fi supports wireless G standard, and a range up to 31 feet. In our testing its internet speeds are around 1000 kilobit per second download, and 500 kilobit per second upload. This is about the same speed as a regular DSL connection, fast enough for most Internet applications, including casual and video streaming. Though tiny, the My-Fi has many features found in regular wireless routers. On the back it has a tiny reset hole. Stick a pin in here, and the device will reset to its default settings. You can also access its Web interface using a browser, to further configure its options, much like you do with other regular wireless routers. The My-Fi includes a long list of features, such as port forwarding, port filtering, mock address filtering, Wi-Fi encryptions, and so on. Basically feature-wise it offers a lot more than you would expect from a device of its size. The My-Fi comes with a wall charger, and can operate for about four hours on a full charge. It can also charge when plugged into a computer via the USB cable. The My-Fi costs 100 dollars with a two year contract, or 170 dollars with a one year contract, or 400 dollars with no contract. [ background music ] You can choose from two monthly data plans, including 40 dollars for 250 megabytes, or 60 dollars for five gigabyte. There's no plan that offers unlimited data. Once again, my name is [inaudible], and this has been the first look at the My-Fi 2200 intelligent mobile hotspot from Verizon Wireless.
