>> Hi, I'm Bonnie Cha, Senior Editor at CNET.com and today we are taking a First Look at the Velocity 103. Now the company Velocity Mobile is pretty new to a smartphone market. They take a fresh approach to the Windows Mobile interface. They realize it's not the easiest one to use, so they created their own interface. As far as the smartphone's design, it's a little plain on the outside, but it has this ready gorgeous VGA screen here. I was really impressed at how pictures looked and everything like that. So going back to the interface, it's called Velocity Odyssey and what you can do is press a little key right here and you'll get a little tray here of shortcuts and you can also bring it up and add and remove icons. I wasn't impressed with the interface and it's a little sluggish, so I'm not going to recommend this one right now. It's $500 to $600 unlocked and I think you can get better devices on the market today. They are coming out with new models, so hopefully they'll make some changes and we'll like it better next time. I'm Bonnie Cha and this has been your First Look at the Velocity 103. ^M00:01:04 [ Music ]

Velocity 103 Review
The good: The Velocity 103 has a sharp VGA touch screen and offers over-the-air software updates. The Windows Mobile smartphone also features HSDPA support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
The bad: The Velocity Odyssey user interface isn't that intuitive and has a tiny onscreen keyboard.
The bottom line: Though the Velocity 103 offers a lot in the features department, the Windows Mobile smartphone is going to have a tough time competing in the space because of its unintuitive interface, performance issues, and high price tag.
