>> [Background music] Hi. This is Eric Franklin from CNET.com and today we're looking at the V7D24W33.
>> Let's first take a look at the V7's physical attributes. The V7 features about fifty degrees of left and right rotation, which is slightly more than most displays we've tested recently. The screen height adjusts along 5.1 inches and the foot stand is flat, wide and deep. With such a large and flat footprint, the display has no trouble staying upright. And even when we knocked our test bench around a bit, the display stood tall. Well, actually, the display stood a little too tall. ^M00:00:34 [ Music ] ^M00:00:39

>> The display also pivots ninety degrees to the right, making it a vertical tall screen. The built in speakers produce decent sound, but they have a slightly tinny ring to them. The OC buttons are wide and give a satisfying snap when pressed. One thing we didn't like, however, was that the speaker volume is embedded within the OSD, so you have to nagivate into the OSD in order to change it.
>> In DVD playback, we found that the V7 had a very sharp picture and accurate colors. And, also, it was very hard to spot ghosting in moving images.
>> When is come to connection options, the V7 is sparse. It has VGA and it has HDMI and that's it. V7 probably did this to get the price under 400 bucks. However, they do include an HDMI to DVI conversion cable, so you won't have to seek out an HDMI compatible video card in order to get the thing to work.
>> With a price of 385 dollars, the V7 is the cheapest 24inch display we've tested recently. So, if you're looking for a 24inch display that won't break the bank -- is great for games, and if connection versatility is not important to ya, the V7 is a great choice. If however, you want more connection options, you may want to check out the Dell 2408WFP.

The Dell Crystal is a 22-inch wide-screen flat panel monitor that comes with a 2-megapixel Webcam and houses two speakers within the glass overlay. Overall, the monitor has a very nice aesthetic but is a bit pricey, as it has limited connection options.
The BenQ V2400W achieves great performance and is pretty to look at, but it skimps on a couple of features like screen rotation and height adjustability to hit its low price.
The Acer P241w delivers a high brightness at the cost of color depth and a deep black level. Its low price, good overall performance, and decent connection options make it a recommended choice for the office user.
The 32-inch Panasonic TC-32LX85 delivers surprisingly impressive picture quality for a small-screen LCD.
The Amazon Kindle DX is functionally identical to the Kindle 2, but it offers a larger (9.7 inches) auto-rotating screen.
V7 D24W33 Review
The good: Inexpensive; excellent overall performance, particularly with DVD and games playback; minimal backlight bleed-through; screen rotation wider than most; useful pivot feature for office tasks; includes HDMI-to-DVI cable.
The bad: Narrow viewing angle; sparse video connections; volume on speakers is too low; a low maximum brightness.
The bottom line: Its video connections and viewing angles are limited, but the V7 D24W33 is about the cheapest 24-inch LCD monitor you'll find and proved itself to be a solid overall performer.
