First Look: ?Torrent Hi, I'm Seth Rosenblatt, associate editor at CNET Download.com. Today's we're looking at ?Torrent--commonly mispronounced as "you-Torrent"--a top-notch and popular torrent client. *** Although it was bought in 2007 by the torrent progenitor, BitTorrent, ?Torrent has retained much of its individual character. It's still the lightest torrent app around, leaving a tiny memory footprint and barely touching system resources. It's still small enough to run off an old USB key. *** The most difficult aspect of using a torrent client is finding the torrents, *** but included are both a torrent search bar that links to MiniNova and a handy RSS feed download function. *** Subscribe to select feeds, and ?Torrent automatically downloads files as they publish. *** Adding, starting, pausing, and listing torrents takes merely a click or two each. A speed guide helps you test your ports and adjust system settings for optimal performance. The current version includes some tried-and-true BitTorrent options available, such as Local Peer Discovery and DHT Network. ?Torrent isn't overwhelmed with bells and whistles, but it includes enough features to make it the torrent program of choice for novices, intermediate, and advanced users. *** For Download.com, I'm Seth Rosenblatt and this has been a First Look at ?Torrent.
