>> Hello everyone, this is Dong Ngo for CNET.com and I have it with me today the UltraDock V4 from WeibeTech. This is a little device that can actually do a lot. The device allows for quickly connecting an internal hard drive to a computer without having to open the computer's case. You can even connect a desktop hard drive to a laptop and vice versa. While most users won't find the use of this device, this is a great tool for savvy user or computer technicians. It's like a Swiss Army knife for hard drive docking. The UltraDock V4 support virtually any consumer-grade hard drives both ATA and SATA interfaces, both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch in physical size. The UltraDock V4 connects to a computer via any existing peripheral connection for external hard drive including USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and eSATA. To make this work it just need to connect a hard drive to one of these connectors depending on the type of drive you use and then connect it to the computer using one of the connection mentioned earlier. Now you can access a drive as an external hard drive to get information off of it. The UltraDock V4 comes in two ways to be powered. Either with this bulky power adaptor or you can hook it to one of the power connectors from a desktop computer's power supply. The UltraDock V4 cost about $200. And there's also another version called Forensic UltraDock V4 that cost about $50 more and implement WeibeTech's write-block technology. The technology allows for read-only access to the drive, meaning you can't get information off of it without the risk of changing the drive content. This is important only in forensic field where you need to protect the change of evidence.
