To get started (hubunifiedremote.com?) and download the setup file here. This is a software that will allow your phone to control your computer. Now run through the setup wizard and...when you're done launch application. When it does, you'll see it appear in the task bar. At this point make sure your computer and phone are connected to the same Wifi network. Now grab Android phone and download unified remote from the play store. When you launched it...have the button here to let you know you already installed the software in your computer. Then you'll be ask if you want to add a new server. Say yes and then select automatic. And the Apple quickly find your computer. Type your computer's name and you all are set. Let's take a walk through the interface. The office packed a features but here is the most important. First, tap remote...there's a long list of options here but to turn your phone into a keyboard and mouse, tap basic input. To use it just use the screen as a track pad with your finger around to control the mouse. Click by tapping, right click by tapping two fingers, drag with two fingers to scroll and long press to move and drag any windows or files. To prompt the keyboard just have your phones menu button. At this point you're ready to use your phone as a keyboard and mouse. But, Unified Remote has several other features worth checking out. Back in the remote menu you'll see many ways you can control your computer from your phone. You can browse files, launch programs through the start menu and control an media you're playing. There's even a Youtube remote for controlling the play back of any Youtube videos you're watching. And if you need to get really busy, choose the keyboard or remote for advance keyboard to get access to (??) controlling out. With this setup you can sit back, relax and control your computer from a far without any cables. If you have any questions hit me up on Twitter and to Skype to my Facebook page for more tips like this. For CNET.com I'm Sharon Zachman.
