Turn on keyboard shortcuts in Gmail Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Molly Wood from CNET.com here to show you how to turn on keyboard shortcuts in GMail. See, webmail is great because it's on the web and you can get it anywhere, but if you have RSI or you just get tired of clicking constantly to do everything, it can be kind of a pain, sometimes literally. Keyboard shortcuts keep your hands off the crippling mouse and they also make you much faster and more efficient. So, to turn them on GMail, click Settings and under the General tab, there's an option for keyboard shortcuts, on or off. There you go. Click On and then click Save Changes. Now, this Learn More link shows you a list of keyboard commands. The most useful ones are C to compose a new message, R to reply to a message you're already reading, A to reply all, and F to forward. Slash puts your cursor in a searchbox, N moves to the next message, P moves to the previous one, and the pound sign deletes a message. Now, if you wanna customize your keyboard shortcuts, click the little Labs icon up here, it looks like a beaker. Now, do a find or scroll down to Custom Keyboard Shortcuts and click Enable. Make sure you click Save Changes at the top or bottom of the list. Now, this will add a new tab in your settings page called Keyboard Shortcuts. There, you can tweak your shortcuts to your heart's content. Maybe make Delete a little more obvious, like D. There you go. Happy typing everyone. For CNET How-To, I'm Molly Wood and you're welcome.
