>> Hi, I'm Michelle Thatcher, Senior Associate Editor for CNET.com and today we're taking a look at the Toshiba Satellite L355D. This particular laptop is a configuration that you're gonna find on the shelves at retail stores and unlike a lot of the lower cost laptops though, this laptop is considerably larger. It has a 17-inch display and what a display it is. It's quite beautiful, it renders colors beautifully and my only complaint would be that as with a lot of these consumer entry laptops. It has a glossy finish that produces some reflections especially in a brightly-lit environment like our studio. The display is really the selling point with this laptop. Otherwise, it's a fairly basic laptop with about the ports and connections and features set that you'd expect from a low cost system. Now, I do like the multi media controls that are in a row above the keyboard. Those are really handy when you're watching DVDs. The keyboard is full-sized, so it was very comfortable to type on and there's a 10-key number pad as well if you do a little casual gaming or just some data entry. Of course the advantage to having such a basic feature set is that you can have a nice minimalist design and I do like the look of this Toshiba Satellite. It's got a lovely deep indigo lid and a shiny black interior that's gonna look quite nice in your living room or on your desktop. Overall though, this is really just a basic low cost laptop for enjoying media. I'm Michelle Thatcher and this is the Toshiba Satellite L355D. ^M00:01:28 [ Music ]
