>> Hi, I'm Michelle Thatcher, senior associate editor for cnet.com. And today I'm talking about the Toshiba Satellite E105. Now you'll see that this doesn't quite look like the other Toshiba Satellites that you're maybe used to. Those are usually a glossy black color, but this is a little more of a gray with some interesting pinstripes on the lid. The reason this looks different is because it's part of Best Buy's Blue Label program. The retailer actually surveyed all of its customers to find out the characteristics of a laptop that its customers wanted, and then worked with manufacturers to create laptops that met those needs. What customers wanted from Blue Label laptops was a lightweight, and the E105 certainly meets that category. It's about five pounds, it's light enough for sure to carry around with you around campus, or maybe down to the coffee shop. Around the case you're gonna find pretty much all the features that you'll need as a home user, and Toshiba throws in some interesting extras. Like one of the USB ports doubles as an e-SATA port, which lets you connect an external hard drive. And there's also an HDMI port that you can connect to your HDTV. One of the other features is a backlit keyboard, which is really handy if you do a lot of computing in bed, or other low light environments. And the customers also demanded a longer battery life, and in fact in our labs test the Satellite E105 exhibited about four hours, which is pretty good for even a fourteen inch laptop like this one. And finally, the final Blue Label laptop characteristic is a lengthy warranty. This Toshiba Satellite E105 is covered by a two year warranty, which is twice as long as you would get with other laptops. Overall we're pretty pleased with this laptop. In our labs it had pretty good performance scores, it definitely has enough oomph for the basic home computing tasks, the web surfing, emailing, document preparation that you would expect. And its price can't be beat, it's about eleven hundred dollars. I'm Michelle Thatcher, and this is the Toshiba Satellite E105. ^M00:02:01 [ music ]
