>> David: David Kastmeyer [assumed spelling] here from CNET and this is the Toshiba 46XV545U, it's a 46 inch flat-panel LCD TV. Toshiba says this TV has SRT up conversion technology that can make standard def look like hi-def, we'll get to that in a little bit but first a quick look at how this TV looks on the outside, it's pretty much all black, a glossy finish around the edge of the screen. Below the screen there's hidden speakers and there's a little kind of perforated grayish area to add a little bit of an accent but otherwise pretty standard looking set. There is a swivel stand included though so we kind of like that feature when you're off to the side you can swivel it and get a better view. Feature set on this TV is pretty darn good there's 3 HDMI inputs on the back panel along with two component video and a PC input, there's also a 4th HDMI input on the side so plenty of ways to connect things to this television. And when you go into the menu system you'll find plenty of picture adjustments including the ability to adjust the color temperature, color points, and a lot of the other more esoteric features but all in all we found these adjustments not all that effective at correcting some of the TV's color accuracy issues. One of the things we noticed in the lab the TV also has the ability to deliver a pretty good black level so that's one point in its favor; there's also relatively good uniformity on this TV. We also checked out the ability of the SRT up conversion to turn standard def into hi-def and we weren't all that impressed it really is difficult to do that standard def is gonna look relatively bad no matter what you do and this TV circuit doesn't do a great job although it does bring up a lot of options that you can do to play around with it including sharpness and that sort of thing, so that's a nice plus, but all in all it's really no miracle working technology.
