Hi, I'm Molly Wood. It's May 28, 2008, and here's what happened today in technology history. It's a biggie. On this date in 1936, Alan Turing submitted his groundbreaking article, On Computable Numbers, for publication. The article described the Turing Machine, which was, essentially, a model for simulating the logic of any computer algorithm, and which therefore defined the limits of what was possible using computation. It's also why Alan Turing is considered the father of modern computer science. We'll talk more about him on his birthday, June 23. Stay tuned. On this day in 1930, construction was completed and the Chrysler Building in New York City officially OPENED. I guess they figured it was safe enough for the public show-and-tell the day before. And today in 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt OFFICIALLY opened the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. He was actually in Washington DC, but he pushed a button that signaled the beginning of vehicle traffic over the bridge. And there's been traffic there ever since. And that's the road report for today. See you tomorrow as time marches on.
