Today in Tech History: June 10, 2008 Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Molly Wood. It's June 10, 2008, and here's what happened today in technology history. On this date in 1947, automaker Saab produced its first car. And they've been breakin' down ever since. Today in 1977, Apple Computer SHIPPED its first Apple II personal computer, five days after it went on sale. Sounds familiar, right? On this date in 2003, NASA's Mars Exploration Rover mission began with the launch of the Spirit Rover. Spirit landed on Mars in January 2004, and turned out to be the pluckiest little space rover you ever did see. It functioned about 17 times longer than scientists expected, and despite the Phoenix lander getting all the press right now, Spirit ... is still kicking. You go, Spirit Rover. And that's about all the space spirit I've got for you today. More inspiring tech history, back here tomorrow.
