>> Hi, I'm Tom Merritt. It's July 24, 2008 and here's what happened today in Technology History. First, the sad tale of Woodward and Evans who filed the first light patent on this day in 1874. They couldn't get enough financial support though ended up selling the patent to Thomas Edison who gets all the credit for inventing the light bulb. Meanwhile, one rocket went up in 1950 as the first recovered V-2 Rocket launched from the Kennedy Space Center. That led eventually to the Apollo Space Program and on this day in 1969, the Apollo 11 mission arrived safely back from the first manned mission to the moon. Finally, technology betrayed President Richard Nixon in 1974 as the Supreme Court ordered him to hand over the White House tapes to the Watergate Special Prosecutor and President Nixon ended up resigning as a result. Thanks for taking this rocket ride into the history with us. Come back tomorrow for more.
