>> Hi, I'm Molly Wood, it's July 20, 2008 and here's what happened today in Technology History. On this date in 1960, a Polaris missile was successfully launched from a submarine, the USS George Washington for the first time. The Polaris was a submarine-launched, two-staged, solid-fuel, nuclear-arm ballistic missile, and the George Washington was the first US missile submarine. Also today in 1969, Apollo 11 successfully landed the first man on the moon -- hurray! And then today in 1976, the Viking 1 Lander successfully landed on Mars. It was a big day for landings. And that's it for today's tech history, but we'll be coming in for a soft landing tomorrow with more trivia in the hold.
