Hi I'm Molly Wood. Its April 29th, 2008 and here is what happened Hi I'm Molly Wood. Let's begin in Berlin, where on this date in 1882, Ernst Werner von Siemens ran trials of his "Elektromote," which was the forerunner of the electric trolleybus. Today in 1997, two events worth noting. The Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993 went into effect, outlawing the production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons among countries that signed the agreement. Also in 1997, astronaut Jerry Linenger and cosmonaut Vasily Tsibliyev took the first-ever Russian-American space walk. No word on whether they held hands. Actually, in the course of the five-hour walk, the two men conducted the first tests of a Russian-designed space suit, and performed some other equipment installations. And in 2004, Oldsmobile ended 107 years of automobile production history by rolling its last car off the line. When it closed, Oldsmobile was the oldest American auto brand, and the third-oldest in the world after Daimler and Peugeot. In its 107 years, it producedit produced 35.2 million cars.
