>> Hi I'm Molly Wood. Welcome Today in Tech History. Today is April 17th. In 1790, on this date the world lost a great inventor. Benjamin Franklin died in Philadelphia at the age of 84. Now in addition to his many, many other exploits like being a founding father of the United States whatever, Franklin invented bifocal glasses, the Franklin stove and the lightning rod. An interesting note, Franklin did not patent any of his inventions. He wanted them all to be freely available to the world. We will, I think I can safely say, never see his like again. >> Also on this date in 1964, Gerry Mock became the first woman to circumnavigate the world by air. [ Sound effects ]

>> On this date in 1970, the ill-fated Apollo 13 spacecraft returns to earth safely. [ Sound effects ]

>> And finally on April 17, 1996, Arnold Neustadter died. He was the inventor of the Rolodex. Now you now that's Today in Tech History. See you tomorrow.
