>> Hi, I'm David Carnoy, executive editor for CNET.com and I'm here to tell you about the Tibbly Audio III. This is an iPod speaker system with a built in clock radio. It isn't so portable that you can lift it up. It's not that heavy, but it isn't portable like the iPhone book is, it doesn't have a battery bay. We generally like the design of Tibbly Audio products, sort of this old world radio style to them. This one comes in both white and black. It'll dock virtually any iPod, has a new LCD on the front that's pretty bright. An automatic LCD dimmer, which both raises and lowers the brightness levels of the LCD in various ambient lighting conditions. It is a digital tuner. And it has something called RDS or radio data system for stations that support it, you'll be able to see track, artist information and even some promos from the radio stations. Around back, there is a good amount of connectivity. There is not video output for those of you who want to connect your video iPod to a TV, but there is a line input for other portable audio devices as well as a line output if you want to go to, go to a bigger stereo and even a jack if you want to connect your computer and use this as a computer speaker. The functionality here is actually pretty good. It allows you to skip forward and back not only between tracks, but play lists and albums as well, which is nice. Although we like the sound of the III, we did it expect it to have better base because it is a little bit deeper. And it just doesn't have huge base. We were a little disappointed there. But it does have nice nuance sound. So if you're, if you're someone who doesn't care about big, booming base out of one of these small systems and wants a more refined sound, the III is certainly going to deliver. The Logitech FreePulse Wireless Headphones are remarkably light headphones. The sound quality is decent overall with an emphasis on bass. The Bluetooth transmitter can be used with any audio source that has a minijack headphone output.
The high-quality sound and all-wood finish make the Tivoli Audio Networks an attractive Internet radio, but the high cost and design flaws may detour you from purchasing.
HP iPaq rx3715 Mobile Media Companion
While the HP iPaq rx3715's Media Companion functions didn't inspire us, this PDA's features and top-notch performance make it well worth considering.
The Nokia BH-801 is a simple yet attractive Bluetooth headset that fits comfortably and offers decent sound quality.
Tivoli Audio iYiYi (white) Review
The good: Attractive design; clock with alarm (wake to iPod songs); supports Radio Data System (RDS) text feeds from stations that offer them; iPod charges while in dock; auxiliary line-in; included remote offers more than basic control over your iPod.
The bad: Expensive; bass could be stronger; no bass and treble controls; no video output.
The bottom line: While its sound didn't blow us away, the iYiYi offers improved bass over the iSongBook and decent features in an attractively styled package.
