I'm John Falcone [assumed spelling] from CNET here at the top of Rockefeller Center where TiVo has just introduced its new Series4 DVR's, the three hundred dollar Premiere and the five hundred dollar Premiere XL. These are TiVo's fourth generation products. They're cable car DVR's that incorporate a lot of web video into the TV interface as well. So the key advantage here is HD interface and unified search. TiVo already had some very robust search functions, but with Series4 Premiere, they're really trying to kick it up and make sure when you search for a program, it comes up whether it's on your upcoming program listings or available on Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, or Blockbuster--just to name a few of the services that are natively supported on the device. It's also music-friendly. It already has Rhapsody. Pandora is coming later this year. Like past TiVo's, the Premiere boxes will also double as network media streaming devices as well. Now these TiVo's, like previous ones, are Ethernet only though TiVo will be selling a wireless USB WiFi Dongle to go along with them separately. Another cool accessory is the QWERTY remote. It's a Bluetooth remote. You slide it open just like a SmartPhone, and you can do your, type right on it and do your searches there instead of using a clumsier on-screen keyboard interface. Right now it looks like TiVo is sticking with its fee structure, so in addition to that up front three hundred dollars for the forty five hour Premiere, or five hundred dollars for the TXH certified hundred and fifty hour Premiere XL, you're also going to have to pay a monthly, yearly, or lifetime fee on top of those prices. Both of these new TiVo boxes will be available to consumers in April, and we'll have hands-on reviews of them as soon as they're available. 30 Seconds to Mars: "A Beautiful Lie"
"A Beautiful Lie," the title track and current single from 30 Seconds to Mars' platinum album, marks the first music video ever shot 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Greenland. It is the third in a series of short films featuring songs from the band's 2005 album. (The previous two were "The Kill" and "From Yesterday," which was the first American music video shot in the People's Republic of China); both were directed by Bartholomew Cubbins. "A Beautiful Lie" directed by Angakok Panipaq premieres January 30th in an array of countries including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Sweden and Denmark through a never before seen global Myspace exclusive event. This will be followed by a multi-channel and online media blitz.
