Hi, I'm Natali Morris for CNET and you're watching our coverage of the 2011 Consumer Electronic Show. I'm here in the Renaissance Hotel next to the Convention Center where I've been able to get a demo of the THX Concept Sound. What this is? Is a sound concept that THX has come up with that hoped to license into televisions and perhaps movie theaters in the future. What it does is direct sounds specifically into different areas of a room. So, if you think of the way you set up your surround sound speakers now, it's really laborious. You have wires going everywhere and it just floods the entire room with sound, whereas, this concept can actually target sound in various aspects of the room. So, I'm gonna try and give you a demo. Maybe a little hard for you to hear on speakers, but right now, the music is being directed specifically to me in this part of the room. So, if you can listen in to this cool jam maybe we can bring the volume up a little. So, this TV is directing the sound directly at me and in this part of the room, and now we're gonna ask our trusty helpers to direct it to other side of the room and hopefully you heard that sound actually traveled away from me. So, if I go over to this side of the room, we'll pick it up again. So, come with me, and hopefully, you can pick it up on my own microphone. And then we can also target the sound to the entire room and just flood the room with sound. For the entire viewing audience if we wanted to. So hopefully, you were able to hear the differences between the 2 sides of the room. Those of us in the room here were really impressed. It's very easy to hear in person. Again, this is concept. Hopefully, you'll see it in THX systems, in TVs, or movie theaters near you sooner than later. I'm Natali Morris for CNET.
