The Foggy Few: "Pint of No Return"
The Foggy Few from Bergen, Norway, is a folkrock band inspired by Irish and Scottish music. From its start in September 2003, the band has been on the bill with major Norwegian artists, touring every corner of the country. In a short amount of time The Foggy Few has gained a reputation as an awesome live band, and has developed into one of the most exciting new folkrock bands in Norway. Their music has made people compare them to bands such as The Pogues, The Waterboys and The Hooters, which must mean that The Foggy Few are on to something good, although their sound is very much their own. The band's summer hit "Summerfeelgood" has been playlisted on Norway's biggest radio channel, NRK P1. The Foggy Few's debut album is out in 2006 and it is called "Pint of No Return". MUNK are Italian Mathias Modica and German partner Jonas Imbery. They release their own records and also the music of friends like HEADMAN, WHOMADEWHO and TOMBOY on their own little label GOMMA - the label that has achieved a quite good fame for releasing this new sound which mixes the aesthetics of 70ies Disco and Krautrock with modern Electronics and House. In the past Gomma has released the debut albums of avant-garde pop artists like MOCKY, HEADMAN, New York sculpturist THE RAMMELLZEE and NICK MACCARTHY (of Franz Ferdinand) with his former band KAMERAKINO. In early February the new label compilation was released. GOMMAGANG 3. It includes recent tracks from the above mentioned artists and also new remixes and guest appearances of The Rapture, DJ Chloe, Midnight Mike, Dirt Crew. It was mixed by the MUNK guys and shows the sound of the Gomma label of the past two years and also the DJ style of MUNK. MUNK have released their critically acclaimed APERITIVO debut album in 2004. The single "Kick Out The Chairs!" still gets played in clubs around the world. The album is one of the first records that preceded the current "Garagedisco" and "Balearic" trend. Including guest vocalists such as their friend JAMES MURPHY of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM/DFA RECORDS, French DJ CHLOE, MIDNIGHT MIKE from London and BOBBY CONN ? the album still sounds fresher than many similar recordings of now. Since "Aperitivo", the guys have been mostly djing around the world. Their very own hot mix of Minimal house and Leftfield Disco gets appreciated more in more and so they are playing a lot of clubs around the world. From places like The Pulp in Paris, Culture Club in Belgium and Berlin clubs like WMF or FUN to fancy parties like the one of Colette shop in Paris and festivals like Sonar and Melt.

Released in download format earlier this year, In Rainbows has already received tremendous acclaim in the press. The fifth full-length Nettwerk release from Vancouver-based duo Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber, Nuages Du Monde (Clouds of the World) continues the evolution of Delerium from creators of predominantly instrumental filmic soundscapes to a fully-fledged vocal group. Featuring an array of renowned singers, Nuages Du Monde neatly combines the more overtly commercial pop of previous album Chimera (2003) with the lush sensual ambience and cloistered harmonies of 1997?s Karma, a meld that bridges the gap between world music, new age electronics and modern classical.

The result of the thousands of miles travelled since 2004's "Feast of Wire," Calexico's "Garden Ruin" takes into account the enlarged line up of the band, its multicultural roots, the band?s growing input into the songwriting and arrangement process, the arrival of a producer, new domestic arrangements, international affairs, broadening horizons, developing ambitions and changing scenery. In late 2003, with more than 20 songs completed, The Race approached electronic duo Telefon Tel Aviv to help produce a new record. Self-admitted studio-perfectionists and highly acclaimed for their electronic composition, Telefon jumped at the opportunity to work on a group of songs that were raw yet completely written. Over the course of two months, The Race and Telefon broke down the music to its essential elements and then began to build it back up again. The Race's preference for simple song structures and dynamically powerful writing, combined with the exquisite production of Telefon Tel Aviv, has resulted in the stunningly beautiful "If You Can" - an album that shows a band ready to make its mark.
Formed in 1993, Low is a trio from Duluth, Minnesota comprised of guitarist/vocalist Alan Sparhawk, percussionist/vocalist Mimi Parker and bassist Zak Sally. Throughout Low's history, the band has accumulated acclaim from critics ("Low build big magic from so little" - Rolling Stone) and musicians (Radiohead hand-picked Low to open a string of dates in 2003). Initially garnering attention as leaders of the '90s slowcore movement, Low went on to develop a sonic repertoire that incorporated pop, R&B and dissonant rock n' roll. With this kind of storied history, most people thought they had Low pegged. But then they turned in their Sub Pop debut, The Great Destroyer. The band's seventh full-length album, The Great Destroyer is fascinating in that it blends the band's austere melodies ("On the Edge Of," "Silver Rider") with an aggressive guitar onslaught ("Monkey," "Everybody?s Song") and even melds Low's varied styles together into a single song ("When I Go Deaf"). Co-produced by Low and David Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev), The Great Destroyer is a welcome surprise and, in the end, a rock n' roll revelation.
