Well, by default your machine search is for the network printers and folders each and every time you open up a new Explorer window. In an office environment this might be helpful, otherwise it's better to turn it off and save yourself some time. To disable this function just click tools then folder options. Select To view then uncheck the very first box, it automatically search for network folders and printers. That's all there is to it. So, if you're just at home with only one computer on the network get rid of that annoying lag every time you click my computer.
