Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet, we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Tom Merritt. Perhaps it is time for you to give a gift? Perhaps to a technology fan in your life? But what gift to give? We can help. Let's count down the Top 5 tech gifts. At No. 5, a camera. Yeah, you get a crappy 2- or 3-megapixel camera in your phone, but we're talking about real pictures here. Coming in at No. 4, a game console. Wii, Xbox or PS3, whatever your pleasure, you can't disappoint by giving fun. Or if the budget's tight, maybe a Sony PSP or Nintendo DS? Up to No. 3, a laptop. Desktops are specialty items these days. A laptop says "I care"...about your mobility. And you can get them for a few hundred dollars, especially if you go with a stylish Netbook. Sliding in at No. 2. Smartphone. Pretty much every carrier has a sexy-looking touch- screen phone that can surf the Web, take pictures, play music and videos, and find you that perfect someone to spend the rest of your life with. What? They can! Before we get to No. 1, let's look at the top specific models as picked by our editors in the CNET holiday gift guide. All right. Let's get to our No. 1. The top gift to give or heck, to get. At No. 1, It's... A TV. With analog transmission being replaced by digital, and HDTV all the rage, there is no better time to make excuses to buy a new TV. And whether it's a 60-inch plasma or just a 32-inch LCD, there's been no better time to get a bargain on a TV that has the exact options you want. Well, that's it for this edition of CNET Top 5. You can find more gift recommendations in our holiday gift guide at http://holiday.cnet.com I'm Tom Merritt. See you next time.
