>> As evidenced by the Apple iPod Touch, touch screens are all the rage now a days in MP3 players. Of course, not everybody does a good job at it. I'm Jasmine France, I'm here with the Sony X-Series Walkman. The company has managed to come up with a touch sensitive navigation that is both fun and easy to use. But we'll get into that in a minute. First, I just wanted to kind of tick off a couple of the features of this player. One of the major features on this player is integrated WIFI, which allows it to have things such as the Slacker App and a YouTube App built right in. Now the beauty of the Slacker App on this player is that you can Cache content, which means you don't need to necessarily be connected to WIFI all the time in order to listen to new music. All you need to do is hook up to the WIFI once to refresh your stations, and you've got a whole cadra [phonetic] of new music to listen to wherever you are. Now that's great. What's also great about it is that it's completely free. You just have suffer through a few ads here and there as well as some skip lenets. [phonetic] Now you also have access to free video content via YouTube. And they've integrated the app right into the player, so it has a great navigational structure just right onboard. And there's even a pretty basic web browser, so if you want to go online you can do that as well. Also, you can even subscribe to podcasts on the device itself, as well as get podcast updates anytime you have a WIFI connection. So Sony's done an excellent job utilizing the WIFI antenna in this player by offering all of these different services right on the player itself. It also, of course, has your standard music playback of MP3, AAC, WMA, including subscription content if you are paying for a subscription. And you have the photo support as well as an integrated FM tuner. And there's even noise canceling capabilities built right in, which is designed to work with the packaged headphones, which are really decent headphones even. Now as far as the interface is concerned, Sony managed to create some cool interface functionality. It's a little difficult to explain, so I'm just gonna show you. Basically what I've decided to call it is a tilt and scroll navigational feature. And as you drag you finger across it, it tilts and accelerates through the various alamar [phonetic] on the player. Now you can also use this in the video scan mode, and it allows you to scan through frames of video based on your own settings. And it's just a cool and fun feature that makes interface a little more fun to use, and it makes it a little bit more competitive with the iPod Touch in terms of the coolness factor. Now this player is said to go on sale in June at $299 for 16 Gigabytes and $399 for 32 Gigabytes. I'm Jasmine France, and this has been the Sony X-Series Walkman. ^E00:02:21

Sony X-Series Walkman (16GB) Review
The good: The Sony X-Series Walkman is a solid device with a sleek, utilitarian design and a unique, engaging interface; it's compatible with both Mac and Windows and supports podcasts from iTunes and videos from Amazon Unbox; it offers a plethora of features including an onboard Slacker app, integrated YouTube support, Wi-Fi, an FM tuner, and built-in noise canceling. The included earphones are nicer than average, the sound quality is excellent, and the rated battery life is superb.
The bad: The X-Series is expensive, and it's a fingerprint magnet. The included app does not transcode much video adequately.
The bottom line: The X-Series is a superb choice for audiophiles who want a luxury device with an excellent touch-screen interface and plenty of other bells and whistles.
