Video description: The Sony NWZ-S610 Walkman doesn't bring anything striking or new to the table, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a quality MP3 player with nice extras and a killer battery life. Plus, Sony got rid of SonicStage--the best news ever.

>> Hi I'm Jasmine France, senior associate editor for CNET.com and I am here with the new Sony Walkman. This is the NWVS600 series, I have in my hand the 2 GB version, it also comes in 4 GB and an 8 GB version. The lower capacities, in a variety of colors, you have black as you see here, white, pink and I believe silver as well. Now this is a really nice player from Sony, it has a really nice feel to it. It has a lovely icon driven interface here and it has lots of features. This player has an FM radio, you can view your photos on it, you can view video and you know what, this will even play subscription base WMA music, that's right the Sony players now play nicely in the subscription service such as rhapsody and Napster, that's a new feature that we are just seeing in the new Sony Walkmans. It also will play unprotected AAC's so you can buy unprotected music from iTunes as well and MP3. They have done away with Sony sonics stage which is fantastic news because that was of course what I thought always brought the players down, now you can use it with the Windows media player or any other WMA jukebox. You may even be able to use it in iTunes, that remains to be seen. The player is pretty competitively priced. For the 2 GB it's going to run a hundred and twenty dollars, the 4 GB is a hundred and sixty and the 8 gigabyte is two hundred and ten. And of course always the Sony player is one of the best features is the battery life, this is rated for its 33 hours of audio playback. I think this is going to prove to be a stellar sounding player in testing. I'm Jasmine France for CNET. ^M00:01:30 [ Music ]
