>> Hi, I'm Jasmine France, senior associate editor for www.cnet.com.
>> And I'm here today with the Editor's choice award winning Sony NWZ-A810 series, it is a Walkman, and it is the first Sony MP3 player to ever win an Editor's Choice, so yay Sony, and it's definitely worthwhile. One of the things that makes it actually a very worthwhile player is it comes with these MDR headphones or earbuds, and they're actually really good earbuds, so this sounds great right out of the box. The design of this player is pretty understated, I wouldn't say it's necessarily going to turn heads, but it's nice and sleek, it's slim. It has a nice two-inch screen here, it's quite ample, you can definitely get away with watching some short video clips on here. Very well laid out controls, very easy to use, just your standard five-way control pad, here you have a back-in [assumed spelling] menu buttons. It does have dedicated volume on the side, we always like to see that, and the hole switches here on the back is not the most ergonomic placement I found, but, you know, at least there's a hole switch there. The one thing I'm not too fond of is the proprietary dock, but they do include a cable for that, so that's fine, and you also have your headphone jack down here on the bottom of the player. The interface of this Sony is really nice. A lot of the new Sony Player's I've found have really, well laid out interfaces. There's a really well organized icon driven main interface here, we always like to graphic interface, it makes things more visual, easier to navigate. The playback screen is great, it displays plenty of information, and you can actually change it to display full [inaudible] album art, which I really like. Another really neat feature that I found on this player that I haven't seen on a lot of other players is you can actually browse albums by cover art. Now, this player does not have and FM radio or voice recorder, but it does have photo and video playback, and I have to say the photos and videos look really great, and really crisp on this nice screen. With this MP3 player, the real standout is sound quality, this player sounds fantastic, it really sounds great. You get plenty of sound enhancement options, fun things to play with. There's also two customizable usable EQ's, and as we come to expect from Sony MP3 players, it has a fantastic battery life, it tested for 35.3 hours of audio in our battery life testing, that is just great. And of course one of the things that I'm really liking about the new Sony Walkman's is that they no longer use the SonicStage software, you can now use them with any Window's Medias Jukeboxes, that's Window's Media Player's Rhapsody, and others like that. It does support MP3, WMA even protected, and subscription WMA, and AAC, and it's not going to cost you a whole lot of money either. It comes in 2 gigabyte, 4 gigabyte, and 8 gigabyte capacities, which run for 120, 150, and 200 respectively. So it's very competitively priced, it's a great sounding player, fantastic battery life. This is the reason it's an editor's choice award winner. You should definitely check it out.

Sony NWZ-A818 (8GB, black) Review
The good: The Sony NWZ-A810 offers a slim design with a lovely, ample screen. It's also easy to use and comes with high-quality earphones. Audio quality is excellent, and there are plenty of sound enhancement options and two custom EQs. The player supports photo and video playback as well as subscription WMA files, and it has a fantastic battery life.
The bad: Even with the included extender, the Sony NWZ-A810's earphone cable is very short. The placement of the hold button on the back of the player is neither convenient nor ergonomic. There's no FM tuner, voice recorder, or memory expansion slot.
The bottom line: The Sony NWZ-A810 offers a fantastic display, a sleek design and interface, and a stellar battery life--plus, it's one of the few MP3 players that sound great right out of the box. Users looking for the whole package (sans radio) will be pleased.
