>> I'm Antuan Goodwin and we're on the floor at CES 2009. And this is our First Look at the Sony MEX-BT3700U. The BT in MEX BT3700U stands for Bluetooth and that's because this particular CD receiver is Bluetooth-enabled. Now, I've already paired my phone with it and we can actually make phone calls right here using the device and it will come through the speakers. And this particular unit also has an external microphone and that basically will allow you to get the microphone up out of the way for better sound quality, clearer calls and what not. With the audio streaming using the device that we have paired plays the music. It actually sounds pretty good. It's pretty cool as a CD quality or at least the quality of the MP3s I ripped to and upload them to my phone. Now, other features that this head unit also has is an internal -- I mean, excuse me a front panel auxiliary input and a front panel USB port. Now, USB port will allow you to plug up a USB thumb sticks, devices like Sony walkman digital media players and also it's iPod compatibles so you can with the dock connector cable plug up your iPod. Now, to help you get through your music very quickly, this device features two different technologies that help you find the music that you're looking for. The first is gonna be the Quick BrowZer, which basically will allow you to search the music that's on your device by album, artist, genre and it will also help you pull up podcast and what not if you're doing that. Typically, on a head unit it's kind of slow going, but this is a full speed connection, so we're able to very quickly find artist and then scroll through it very, very quickly. Now, if you're on the road and you listen to an album and you wanna skip around and maybe listen to a different song. This has is what's called Zappin technology and what that does is it will take the songs that are in the current playlist that you're listening to and it will give you a brief snippets from the beginning -- from the middle of each of those songs and so what you're doing is you're riding around, you're listening to this album and you wanna hear something. So you hit the Zappin button and what it does is it starts playing. And when you hear the song that you wanna listen to, you hit the Zappin button again and it starts the track over from the beginning. I really like that. Other features: 52 watts of amplification max, 3 free amp outputs on the back if you want to bypass that and add external amplifiers as a subwoofers and pretty clear display, pretty easy to use interface. The CD player plays MP3s and WMA if you aren't carrying your music around on a device. I really like this -- this unit, so pretty good, pretty easy to use one. That's been our First Look at the Sony MEX BT3700U. I'm Antuan Goodwin and CNET. ^M00:02:54 [ Music ]
