Sony MDR-Z1000 and MDR-ZX700 Monitor Headphones Video Transcript
Brian Tong here with CNET.com at CES 2011 and in front of me, I have two pairs of Sony Studio Monitor headphones. This guy over here is the MDR-Z1000. This one on to my left-- or your right is the MDR-ZX700. Now, these are two really high quality, well-built headphones. What separates the two is some of the build factors and some of the kinda of quality materials that they used. Now, this one here is using a liquid crystal polymer film diaphragm to help out with the audio and it's also using a magnesium housing. It feels really solid and when you kinda put these on your ears and listen to sound quality, you'll hear a kind of a fuller, more richer sound. Another feature that the Z1000 has that the ZX700 does not have is the fact that this comes with two lengths of cables, a 3-meter and a 1.2-meter cable so a lot of MP3 users, you'll just need the shorter one but if you're plugging this into a console in a studio, you want the longer cable. Now we don't have any exact pricing from Sony but they do say that the Z1000s here will be about a couple hundred more dollars than the ZX700s. What I liked the most about these, though, is its really clean design, sturdy feel, and best of all, these things sound right here, you can listen to my mic. Yeah, you can hear how good they sound, too. For CES 2011, I'm Brian Tong with CNET.com and, yeah, I'm liking these.
