Sony HX750 series Video Transcript
Hi. I'm Ty Pendlebury from CNET.com. And this is a review of the HX750 Television. In 2011, Sony had one of its best years in terms of producing high quality TVs. But unfortunately, this didn't translate to sales. So in scaling things back for 2012, the company has gone to just a handful of models and relatively inexpensive ones at that. Two of this are the $1,500 46-inch and the $2,100 55-inch HX750. This is and edge-lit LED screen which offers a good feature set and the minimalist yet classy design we expect from the company. The Smart TV features are similar to last years with the addition of a new interface called the Sony Entertainment Network which draws all of Sony's streaming music and movies in to one place. As Sony is second from the top model, you can also expect to receive 3D playback but no glasses, 4 HDMI ports and 2 USBs. Picture quality is ever to the price with excellent colors but lower than expected black levels. 3D playback is very good however and the range of internet content should keep you entertained for a while yet. The TV's biggest problem is one that is completely out of Sony's control. The competition is better and cheaper. The 55-inch Panasonic ST50 is one of the best TVs we've seen in years and it's $500 cheaper than this. As a result, the Sony HX750 is a decent but not especially significant entry in Sony's portfolio. Could the top of the line HX850 be that much better. This has been Ty Pendlebury with the HX750.

The Sony S-Series Walkman is a solid entry-level MP3 player thanks to its ultraaffordable price tag, easy-to-use design, excellent performance, and fair smattering of features--but those who are looking to upgrade from the previous Walkman generation will not be impressed with this gen.
Although its black levels challenge the best ever, some other picture-related aspects of the Sony XBR-HX909 series don't live up to the high price.
Apple's Mac Pro has design innovations that we hope will cross over to other systems. Its performance is as strong as you'd expect for a system in its class, and it's priced right, too.

The Samsung E6500 series is an excellent television which offers classy looks, outstanding black levels and a decent price.
With deep black levels and generally excellent picture quality, the more eco-friendly Panasonic TC-PS1 series of plasma TVs strikes an appealing price/performance balance.
The Sony E-Series Walkman offers a compact design, a nice screen, and a handful of desirable features for a reasonable price.
The relatively affordable Sony EX640
Sony's EX640 series is one of the better deals from the company, with decent picture quality and features for the price.
While its bulky design isn't for everyone, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more full-featured and better sounding all-in-one 7.1 home theater system for the price than the Onkyo HT-S7200.

Sony KDL-55HX750 Review
The good: The Sony HX750 offers excellent color accuracy for an LCD and will give a decent picture without too much calibration. The feature count is one of the highest of any Sony TV this year. Styling is subdued but elegant, and it's not all about looks, because it's also easy to use.
The bad: The overall picture quality is hampered by light black levels. No 3D glasses are included, which is disappointing for a high-level TV. Compared with the stiff competition, this Sony is too expensive for what you get.
The bottom line: The Sony HX750 series isn't the headliner that you'd expect it to be with a performance that isn't up to the level of the asking price.
