Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Sharon Vaknin for CNET.com here with the first look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. Until today, you might have known this phone by its code names like Anzu, but the name Arc is pretty appropriate. Its shape like an arc and it's really, really thin. The arc will run Android 2.3 and it comes with a 1 gigahertz processor. It also features a 4.2-inch screen and 8 megapixel camera, and it can shoot video and 720p. The Xperia arc comes with all of the standard Android features, but it also has Sony's branded features like the Reality Engine, which upgrades video and pictures to make them look more realistic. One upgrade from its predecessor, which was the X10 is HDMI out, so you can view your 720p videos on your television. Overall, the Xperia arc is a nice upgrade from the X10. It's a lot slimmer and more light weight. And the HDMI is also a nice feature. For CNET.com, I'm Sharon Vaknin and this was the first look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.

The X10 is a superb phone in many ways, though we were hoping for better overall performance. Still, we commend Sony Ericsson for making a solid first pass at Android.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc (midnight blue) Review

The good: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has a slim, gorgeous build, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and 720p HD video capture.

The bad: Several buttons on the Xperia Arc are too small, and the unlocked price would be a prohibitively expense for most. Call quality was mediocre.

The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a beautiful handset with some great features, but a high price tag and no network optimization leave few reasons to buy this unlocked Android phone.
