>> Brian Tong: Brian Tong here at CES 2010 in Sony's booth with their Sony Cybershot DSC-HX5V. Now, this is a 10-megapixel camera with a 10-X optical zoom. It also shoots 1080p video at 17 megabits. That's about the same quality as your pocket camcorders. There are some really cool features in this camera. You have a GPS chip for geotagging, and also a compass so it knows which way you are facing when you're actually taking the picture. It also has Sony's killer panorama feature that we saw last year, announcing their DSLRs, where you take the camera, you kinda rotate yourself, and the camera itself will take multiple pictures and then stitch it together to create a nice, cool panorama picture. This camera also supports Sony's transfer jet technology, so if you have a memory stick with the transfer jet tech built in it, you could put it within proximity of other devices like a Sony TV set or a laptop, and it will transfer your images wirelessly to those other devices. This also has the built-in auto HDR, which stands for High Dynamic Range, and what this feature allows you to do is take a picture...it actually takes two of them, and then kind of stitches them together to give you the best image possible. Now, this camera is going to be $349. It's going to be available some time around the end of March. But there you have it...the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX5V. ^M00:01:12 [ Music ]

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V Review

The good: Speedy shooting performance; compact, lightweight design; plenty of fun, useful features; very good low-light photo quality for a compact camera.

The bad: Soft photos, videos; limited manual controls; GPS can't quickly be powered on and off.

The bottom line: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V has shooting options for solving common snapshot camera issues, but some users still won't be thrilled with the results.
