>> Hi, I'm Kevin Massy from CNET Car Tech and today we're taking a first look at the Sony CDX GT 610 UI. It's the first that we have seen that allows users to play music from generic USB mass storage devices. As well as its USB functionality, this unit is what Sony calls made for iPod and that means it has one of these, an intelligent iPod dolt connector. It's intelligent because when you plug an iPod in, the dolt connector transfers all control of the iPod to the front of the stereo faceplate. See on the front of this iPod we are hooked up to the Sony, a great feature this system is, it's ability to show iPods ID3 tag information. In addition to its iPod functionality, the unit also has a generic auxiliary input jack beneath the USB port. I have a Zoon here, I'll plug it in to the auxiliary input jack, turn on the Zoon, we should be able to play exactly what's on the Zoon through our unit with auk [ assumed spelling ] selected as the source. Currently we have an iPod, a Zoon and a generic USB mass storage device all connected to this Sony head unit as sources. In addition to all that, it also plays regular CD?s, MP3 and WMA disks and 8 track disks. So now, we have four audio sources, all accessible. This unit is currently on sale with a price tag of around a hundred and seventy dollars. I'm Kevin Massy and today we've had a first look at the Sony CDX GT 610 UI. ^M00:01:40 [ Music ]

Sony CDX-GT610UI Review
The good: The Sony CDX-GT610UI car stereo offers lots of support for external digital-audio sources, a good range of sound adjustment options, and a very intuitive user interface.
The bad: Its lack of an On button puzzled us for a while.
The bottom line: The Sony CDX-GT610UI car stereo is a cost-effective and user-friendly option for digital audiophiles. Its USB and iPod compatibility set it apart from much of the single-DIN stereo competition.
