>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier from CNET and sitting next to me is the Sony KDL-52XBR7. This is the first TV on the market with 240Hz refresh rate, really, it's TV's claim to fame, it's the double of the 120Hz seen on a lot of high-end TV's in 2008. We'll get to that in a little bit, but first let's talk about this TV styling. It's got around the edge of the screen, the classic glossy black look, below that Sony put a little painted glass, you can see through and hanging from that pane is a big speaker bar. The silver grille is what's included on this speaker bar. We can actually swap that out and get another color like black or brown or what have you to match your decor, so that's kind of a nice touch. It's 99 bucks for that extra grille. There's a good selection of inputs on the back panel, 3 HDMI, 2 component video and a PC input. The side panel adds a 4th HDMI input, so again plenty of ways to connect to this TV. The picture adjustments are also extensive. You can go into the menu and play around with the color temperature, gamma and a lot of the other things you can't find on a lot of TVs again as befits a high-end model. There's also two-ways to adjust the TV's ability to deal with motion. It has Sony's smooth motion capability, which is the dejudder mode. You can go and then change it from standard to high or off. We actually prefer the look of off. High makes the picture look very smooth and artificial. Standard's kind of a happy medium there, but again this is similar to previous Sony TVs. It [inaudible] 240Hz brings in our test is that it actually gives the TV is a little bit more motion resolution, so the motion looks just a little bit sharper, but it's really, really hard to see even for us looking at side-by-side comparisons. Really we don't think it's the kind of thing that anybody would wanna spend the extra money for, but if you wanna be first on the block with 240Hz you know this is the TV to get. This TV also has very good black level performance and pretty good color accuracy. There's some uniformity issues, but overall it's a very strong performer, but again, a little bit expensive for what it brings.
