>> Hey everyone, I'm Jeff Bakalar, assistant editor at CNET dot com and I'm here today with the DAV HDX 500 from Sony. The HDX 500 is the top of the line Bravia model in the Sony home theater products. What you get with this top of the line Bravia model is a lot more inputs for video and audio as well as an additional DM port. The HDX 500 is a five-disc DVD player that can upscale video to 720P or 1080I over the HDMI out. In terms of the design on the front of the display, you'll find buttons for DVD playback. It's the same layout you'll find on every model in the Bravia series. In addition to DVD playback, the HDX 500 can handle XM input. This being the top of the line Bravia model you get a nicer center channel and you also get 33 inch left and right speakers. Unlike lower models in the series, this unit does not come with wireless speakers although you do have the option to install them yourself. In terms of video inputs, the HDX 500 has a bunch of options, however you can't switch between these inputs. They're only providing pass through signals. Overall, the HDX 500 is the best value in the Bravia series. It comes with the best speakers, provides the best sound quality and video quality out of the entire Bravia line. I'm Jeff Bakalar and this has been the Sony DAV HDX500. ^M00:01:35 [ Music ]
