>> Hi, I'm David Carnoy executive editor for CNET.com and I'm here to tell you about the Sony PRS 505 this is Sony's latest electronic book reader. A lot of people know this simply as the reader. This is the second generation version of it. And Sony's made some subtle but important improvements. There's been some design tweaks. This Reader is a little bit thinner than the previous one. It weighs about nine ounces without the cover. So, Sony made it slimmer but not necessarily any lighter than the last model. They switched some buttons around. They tried to simplify the buttons. It was a little bit complicated in the first version. They've also moved their memory card slots from the side of the device to the top of it. This takes both SD cards and Memory Stick duo cards. Sony's also doubled the internal memory in the device. Now there's 128 megabytes that allows you to store 160 EBooks as long as they're not warn Ps you should get close to that 160 EBooks onto the device. You can also load PDF files, Word files, as well as some other text files and MP3 and MPEGs. This does audio and some images. However, the images almost look like an Etch a Sketch. There's no speaker on the Reader but there is a headphone jack on the bottom so you can listen to MP3 files as well as AAC files. We had a couple of small complaints. On issue is that PDF files have to be fit to the screen and you can't zoom them. With Word and Text files, you can zoom the text you can increase the font size. And that's a nice feature of the device. Also, the reader doesn't ship with an AC adapter. That's an optional accessory. You have to charge the device with this USB cable on your computer. Although Sony's taken some nice steps forward with this latest Reader, it's not a perfect device. It has a few flaws. That said, it is easier to recommend at its current price tag. I'm David Carnoy and it's the Sony PRS 505. ^M00:01:58 [ Music ]
