The smartphone used by James Bond: Sony Xperia TL Video Transcript

Hi. I'm Bridget Carey with CNET TV. And we're here with the first look at Sony's Xperia TL which is on AT&T and you might know this as the James Bond come-back 'cause this is the phone that he carries in the movie Skyfall. There are a couple note-worthy highlights about the TL. One of them is the camera. You have two of them. The back one is 13 megapixels and the front one will give you 720p HD video. And there's even a dedicated but just to take photos on it. It's NFC capable and what that means is that when it touches another device that also is with NFC, it can transmit data, photos, information or if you're using one of Sony's accessories like their headset, when you tap it to the headset, it will tell the phone to turn on Bluetooth and start playing music. It has a 4.6-inch screen, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, and it comes loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Aside from coming with a bunch of James Bond media, it also comes with an NFC chip that is programmed with James Bond fun things but you can reprogram this to do other things to. In fact, you can buy a 4-pack of these for 20 bucks. One interesting feature in the TL is albums can expand and change the layout as well as edit photos through that way. If you wanna connect this to a television, it has an MHL port. That's a port that's emerging in televisions now. You don't typically see it. So, if you don't have an MHL port on your monitor, you're gonna need an adapter. Now Sony does have a docking station, has a few extra perks in it and you can even use a remote control to flip through what's on your phone. Now, they're not giving prize or availability yet, but you would like to think that maybe they would have this out in time or when the Skyfall movie comes out in November. For CNET TV, I'm Bridget Carey.

Sony Xperia TL (AT&T) Review

The good: Sony's new $99 Xperia TL has a swift processor, 4G LTE, long battery life, and a powerful camera.

The bad: The Sony Xperia TL is heavy, and its conservative looks don't pack much of a punch.

The bottom line: The Sony Xperia TL is a fantastic value and Sony's best U.S. smartphone yet.
