>> Seth: Defragmenting your hard drive can be one of the hardest things to remember to do regularly, so it figures that it's also one of the most essential. Fortunately for those of us who have better things to do then to plan our day around when we're using our computers the least Iobit's Smart Defrag does the remembering and a whole lot more. Hi, I'm Seth Rosenblatt [assumed spelling] for CNETDowload.com and in this first look we're checking out Smart Defrag a defragging utility that offers several kinds of defragging, a scheduler and an autodefragger that runs in the background but doesn't slow down your system, at least it didn't slow down mine. When you install the program be careful to notice that it will ask you to install the Yahoo tool bar and search engine. Other than that getting started is easy the program loads to the main screen with the defrag already selected by default. You can change that to fast optimize or deep optimize if you want a more thorough cleaning. I recommend deep optimize if you haven't defragged in a while and don't mind leaving it overnight it'll take a few hours. Impressively the autodefrag that runs in the background eats up a small amount of RAM so it's possible to run it smoothly on older machines. Other features I like include the highly customizable scheduler, the optional system tray tool tip and the power source detection for when you're running off your laptop's battery. There's also the options to set Smart Defrag to run on start up and shut down the computer after it's finished. For a freeware defragger that's also one of the fastest on the market it's hard to argue that this defragger is anything but smart. With a first look at Smart Defrag I'm Seth Rosenblatt for Download.com. ^E00:01:45
